Russian 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries

Overall view of the Russian part of the museum ... easy to see how things evolved into building more permanent log homes and structures - our guide mentioned that fire was always a great concern!
Little more elaborate cache for storage.
One of the small homes - they had small doors for two reasons (according to our guide).  One to keep the cold out better and two - you had to bow to the home owner when you came inside.
Inside was pretty sparse - animal hides and simple furniture - functional though!
 Complete with a dog house!
This is a water trough - hollowed out logs - ran water from the top of a hill through three different grain mills - then into the river.

 This is the top
At the left you can see the largest grain mill -then the water trough taking water to the middle smaller one and then even further to the third one - pretty ingenious use of gravity and water power!
The granary where the grain was stored -- it was built up on logs to try and keep the mice and other animals out!
