We took a suit of Elder Smith's into the local dry cleaners this last week ...these old instruments were on display - the iron looks like the ones the pioneer used -but the hand carved scrubbing board? yikes - not only do you need to scrub your clothes on it - - you need to make it first!! Glad to be living in the age of modern washing machines!
This poster was up at the Dry Cleaners - yay for Russia hosting the World Cup ! I really like the logo - it will be fun to experience...even though we are four hours away from Moscow.
This is the ice sheet that forms under the Town Pump - I guess people still need water in the winter. Notice the sidewalks - they throw a little dirt on top of the snow and ice - Sister Heiselbetz's calls it brown sugar!!
This is a picture of the stroller with sled rails - baby was enjoying the ride! Notice the far left of the picture - a whole row of the trees with red berries - I should find out what they are.
Closer view of the cute baby stroller.
Here we have a dead Novosibirsk rat! It is right downtown - notice the building in the background - red M on top? that is the Metro (Subway) station. Also notice the brown sand on top of the snow.
Closer picture of Mister Rat for Emilee Pike - it was a dead mongoose in Jamaica - remember?
Elder Smith talked me into getting my hair cut - - I like it and so does he!
At our local market they had these Koi fish - giant goldfish! no - we didn't purchase any - the salmon we got there was delicious however!
We had English Speaking Club at our apartment Saturday afternoon - here is the front entry with all the boots and shoes that the club members took off!
Here are their coats! - we really had a nice time - they wanted to learn about Thanksgiving ... so we printed out an 'ice breaker' get to know you game - one young man asked: We are going to break some ice? Then we played a "Scavenger Hunt" kind of game - they didn't know what 'scavenger' was - one young lady used her phone translator and told us it said: Trashman! We laughed a lot. The last game we played was pictionary - on a white board - with simple English words ...then we had shredded turkey on rolls, two kinds of salads and three desserts - a good time was had by all!

Vince and I really like your blog!!! You're really going to have some interesting experiences. Good thing that you guys are younger than we are. We will keep reading as the time go by. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI like your hair too. I did not like the rat except for the fact that it was dead as all vermin should be!! Sure does look cold there. We have wind but the temperatures are either 80 for a high or 60 for the low during the day. Not as comfortable as Jamaica :). We pray for you and enjoy your blog. Much love and Happy Thanksgiving from Texas
