Here we are leaving Polly and Chris's house on our way to the MTC ... we have a similar picture leaving Heather and Chris's house in 2010! Nice to have children who are loving and supportive!!
Aren't the flowers pretty? They smell good too! The supervisors over Senior Missionaries told us they have been having 30 - 50 seniors a week - - today there were 80! He also told us we were a young looking group - made us all laugh. Dad was appointed one of 10 District Leaders - three other couples in our District. The Bells are going to Indiana, the Gadds to Minnesota, the Montauge's to Singapore - doing Public Relations for the Church.
Thanks so much Polly and Chris for driving us here, letting us stay in your house for two months, driving us to Pocatello, did I tell you that Pres. Alley asked Chris to help set us apart - so wonderful. etc. etc. etc.!!!
Dad by the Samuel Smith statue - first missionary in the Church! Isn't he handsome? Harold that is.
There is so much diversity in our assignments; we have couples going to Morocco - only missionaries there - doing humanitarian work, also Iraq and Jordan - working mostly with refugees - the Church donates over a million dollars a year to refugee work around the world. A couple is going to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Zambia, Africa, another will be teamsters in Nauvoo - he's Vet - animal doctor! They told us there will be 500-700 new young missionaries on Wednesday - every week!! Nice to relate to the other senior couples - the Lindsey's are going to Frankfort, Germany helping with Public Relations.
This is my MTC name tag - Sister Smith - the Russian Smith is below.
Elder Smith in Russian - it is fun to walk by young missionaries were are going to Russia speaking countries - they immediately ask us where we are going - and help us with our Russian. We had a short meeting this afternoon with the MTC Presidency - and will have a devotional Tuesday with a General Authority. FHE tonight was watching Elder Bednar's The Character of Christ - given at the MTC Christmas Day 2011.
